Responsibility of the Historian as Public Intellectual

Scientists were aware of the threat of climate change to human civilization at least since the 1950s, but government officials largely ignored their findings. Chapter 2 discusses the responsibility of historians as public intellectuals to explain the history of the Earth’s climate and of recent human-caused climate changes to a general audience.
