ABSTRACT
This chapter sets out briefly the theoretical bases of deterrence, acknowledging that they are fundamentally intertwined with our notions of punishment. Authors have given particularly careful consideration to the impact on his children, parents and staff. Specific deterrence that aimed at the individual who has committed this crime to dissuade them from committing further crimes, has a much narrower focus than general deterrence.
