ABSTRACT
This book has sought to illustrate the variety of judicial approaches to sentencing. Even within the increasingly constraining legislative framework, Judges and magistrates are seen going to real efforts to construct sentences that give meaning to some or all of the purposes of sentencing found in s.57(2) SA 20, as well as considering the positions of defendants, victims, and members of the wider community.
