ABSTRACT

The eastern shoreline of the Arabian Peninsula is made up of sedimentary rocks, which contain oil, gas and coal. Saudi Arabia started producing oil in commercial quantity in 1939. If the oil policies of Saudi Arabia go through swings and surges, the pipeline policies make an even more interesting narrative. According to various estimates, revenues from the Saudi oil industry accounts for 87% of budget revenues, 42% of GDP, and 90% of export earnings. Saudi oil was discovered in 1938 and was first exported in 1939. The partnership between Abdel Aziz’s government and Standard Oil became known as the Arabian American Oil Company (Aramco). Based in Dhahran, Saudi Aramco is the state-owned oil company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ongoing war in Syria and the civil war in Yemen are perceived to be Saudi reach for oil pipelines.
