ABSTRACT

This closing chapter serves as a call to researchers, teachers, facilitators, students, policymakers and leaders to maintain a speculative stance to counter uncritical visions of digital futures for learning. It reiterates and interweaves key messages from the book: that the interplay of past, present and future produces speculative approaches; that the futures made by speculative approaches are creative and imaginative, and that speculative approaches produce realities in sociomaterial worlds. It closes by reflecting on some implications for the time and space needed, the provisionality and relationality of learning and of understanding learning futures, the value of good questions and taking risks, and, finally, for working with digital futures for learning in hopeful ways.
