ABSTRACT

Shannan Calcutt trained with Kazimierz (Kaz) Piesowocki at the University of Victoria in Canada, before studying at Dell'Arte International. She began her early clown career as a solo performance artist, developing her reputation through what she calls the Izzy Trilogy, created under the auspices of famed clown teacher Sue Morrison. Her wild and irreverent form of clown engages the audience as an intimate partner, and Calcutt spares no blushes as she reveals her vulnerability through humor and pathos. Calcutt went on to star in Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity, becoming a go-to attraction on the Vegas strip for over 15 years.
