ABSTRACT
Chinese ancient literature contains many poems that echo the same yearning. Tao Yuanming, also known as Tao Qian, was one of China’s greatest pastoral poets. Renowned as the “ancient and modern recluse poet”, he glorified a return to country living. Raw materials are either dug out of the ground or picked from trees; she washes them in a mountain spring and cooks on a log fire pit. The camera shots are of rain falling on the roof, flowers blossoming, roosters crowing, a dog sitting quietly at her feet and rustic utensils on a wooden table. Li Ziqi is more than a disciple of Hestia, goddess of the kitchen, or of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, or Hephaistos, the god of artisans. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she lived with her father. Luo Tianyi can perform alone or with a real pop star on the same stage. Technology makes the unreal appear to be real.
