ABSTRACT

This chapter draws together the main rationale of the ideas presented, draws conclusions, and looks at the challenges ahead for human-centred public leadership and the government response. Building upon the human-focused approach in the study of leadership theory and practice, this chapter also puts forward a conceptual model of public leadership human-centredness by elaborating a causal-chain-model rationale—to clarify and to make explicit human-centredness as an approach by looking at human-centredness as a leadership style, as contingency, and as an outcome. In the scope of this book, human-centredness has been addressed as a two-dimensional flux—as a dimension of leading people and of creating participation forums and opportunities for public service users to meet their service demands. This chapter also discusses additional dimensional contents for public leadership human-centredness by advocating the idea of spreading the notion of incorporating human-centred ideals and rationale into political leadership. Additionally, the opportunities to scale up public leadership human-centredness to other societal sectors will also be discussed.
