ABSTRACT

One of the measures of success for any industry is the opportunity to take on additional and more complex responsibilities. For a project management office, this is showcased through the assignment of new projects with longer durations, higher risk, larger budgets, and greater numbers of resources. A project request governance process can be implemented that involves committees and stakeholders in a consolidated effort to determine the appropriate priorities for all major work across the organization. The project management (PM) should conduct a readiness assessment for the organization's operations team. The PM should be working to finalize any necessary service level agreements between the customer and operations team. Groups of changes can be combined together for a streamlined and organized implementation in scheduled release cycles using a well-defined process known as change management or configuration management.
