ABSTRACT

Understanding who stakeholders are, how they think, and the best way to communicate with them is the heart of good stakeholder management. A project manager (PM) should consider what the project means to the stakeholder, how the project affects their responsibilities, and what the PM can do to make this implementation of the project a positive experience. The stakeholder matrix is an at-a-glance representation, or output, of stakeholder analysis. Each stakeholder is added to the matrix based on the information gathered in the analysis. The stakeholder matrix highlights how the project manager and team should invest resources for managing and communicating. The communication plan can be as robust as a lengthy document describing all communication to be done during the project and how each will be accomplished. The information gathered during the stakeholder analysis will provide key information to completing the communication plan.
