ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses Winnicott’s late work and examines one of his clinical examples in Playing and Reality. Following on from the previous essay (Chapter 5), the author begins to question Winnicott’s technique of changing the temporality of the analytic frame. The Discussion focuses on the issues related to paternal and maternal functions in psychoanalytic technique and the notion of a paternal integrate is introduced.
