ABSTRACT
The Man-Eating Sofa and other stories in the Adventures with Diversity Series use humour, an adventurous spirit and the power of storytelling to aid understanding of the issues faced by neurodiverse young people. The storybook The Man-Eating Sofa is intended to be an enjoyable read. It is hoped that, alongside this guide, it will also help readers to understand some of the challenges faced by young people on the autism spectrum and how they can be supported to overcome their difficulties. Autism is gradually becoming better understood and there is now a wealth of information available to add to the points covered in this guide. As the benefits of neurodiversity are being progressively highlighted, it is hoped that there will be increased recognition of the positive contribution that autistic young people have to offer.
