ABSTRACT
Strengthening the community spirit of Scotland is something authors can all do, whatever their job, their age, or the rightness or leftness of their political views, or even, to a large extent, the degree of their desire for home rule. Their action is something positive in a society deliberately trivialised, something to in crease the variety and interest of their lives, to give meaning once again to themselves and to their fellows, and meaning to the land they have been told is only their to sell. Continue resistance with achievement wherever possible. For example, those of the authors who are experts - and, as they have said, most people are ‘experts’ in at least one field - should gather together the existing facts of Scottish resources in their own field, or discover new ones.
