ABSTRACT

Chapter 9: Spatial Justice and New Trajectories Through Allyship and Design for All critically reflects on what spatial justice is, the future of spatial justice, its relationship to power, allyship and design for all (DfA). This chapter brings together diverse voices to start to define spatial justice and how it can reframe architectural education, theory and practice. Again, these reflections will challenge us all to start to think differently and to use spatial justice as a lens to critique and deconstruct ableism and in turn ableist architecture and design. The aim of this chapter is to take a different look at spatial justice and its relationship to architecture, design, disability and material culture, to introduce new trajectories for inclusive design and to enact change to co-create cultures of inclusion for all.
