ABSTRACT

The strict definition of multivariate analysis is that more than one dependent variable (DV) is involved in the analysis. However, I have included two techniques which do not fulfil this definition - log-linear modelling and survival analysis.

The role of this chapter is to make the reader aware of the function of each of the techniques described and to warn about the constraints on their use. In this way you can judge when they will be useful to you. In addition, it will enable you to interpret and criticise other people’s research which has used these techniques. This chapter is not designed to enable you to conduct the techniques.
