ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to discuss the central propositions and establish a theoretical framework in relation to corporate governance and IFRS. The theoretical framework plays an important role in guiding the entire research process. This chapter discusses the level of compliance with IFRS disclosure requirements through presenting key factors that play major roles in creating variations in the level of compliance with IFRS among countries. The chapter also presents a theoretical model which encompasses the interplay between firm attributes, corporate governance mechanisms, and the level of compliance with IFRS disclosure requirements.
