ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an introduction to the beliefs and practices of Christianity. It begins with a discussion about the diversity of Christianity and the different types of Christianity that can be found in the world. Beliefs such as the nature of God, reconciliation, atonement and the life of Jesus are explored within the Christian context. As with all chapters surrounding the six religions explored in this book the nature of humanity within Christian teaching is examined. Also explored are the main forms of religious expression within Christianity. It is hoped that this chapter will provide the basis for a teacher to understand Christianity, and also a springboard for further exploration.
