ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an introduction to the beliefs and practices of Judaism. It begins with a discussion about who is Jewish and the diversity of Judaism and the different types of Judaism that can be found in the world. Beliefs such as the nature of the Almighty, shekinah and the importance of the Almighty in the ongoing lives of Jews within the Jewish context. As with all chapters surrounding the six religions explored in this book, the nature of humanity within Jewish teaching is examined. Also explored are the main forms of religious expression within Judaism. It is hoped that this chapter will provide the basis for a teacher to understand Judaism, and also a springboard for further exploration.
