ABSTRACT

This chapter details the technology that all online tutors need, with additional suggestions for equipment that they may find useful once they have become established. Initially, tutors only require a laptop and an internet connection, but other equipment may be useful for specialist tutors or those who plan on tutoring a significant number of lessons a week. The chapter is divided in physical tools, such as tablets or visualisers, and digital tools, like Maths tools or slideshows. In the digital section, it also discusses the relevant software required for tutoring, such as video conferencing and online classrooms and whiteboards, and lists recommendations based on the author’s experiences.
