ABSTRACT

This book is about teams, groups, and environments that support and enhance creativity and innovation. It deals with how you can support your co-worker’s creativity and develop a creative climate. The book revolves around established private enterprises and start-ups developing new products and universities and institutes developing applied research in cooperation.

It is important for most organisations to have their own development. In the enterprise world, it is common to think that you can let others do the development and then buy the new technology when it is ready. This is of course possible to buy new technology from another company or from an inventor, but this puts even higher demands on managing creativity.

Equally important is the interaction with others in developing and evaluating ideas. A brilliant idea influences the world only if it is put into use. In other words, this is when the invention becomes an innovation.

The book describes the role of the team leader, innovation manager, or research group leader. It describes the delicate balance between managing and controlling intellectual property in collaborative environment, and open exchange with researchers and developers in external organisation.
