ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how the legacy of WWII – the Ukrainian refugees in Germany, Ukrainian nationalism, supported by the Ukrainian diaspora in America – were used by the KGB in their operations against the United States, which changed from an ally to main adversary of the USSR. Major themes of this chapter are Ukrainian nationalism in diaspora and the Ukrainian teachers of the American spy schools, which became the main targets of anti-American KGB operations in West Germany after WWII.
