ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a wide range of issues, involving the KGB and the CIA activities in Soviet Ukraine, mainly during the détente. The chapter's narrative begins with a description of the first attempts of collaborations between the KGB and the CIA during the planning of the official visits by the US Presidents, Eisenhower, and Nixon, to Kyiv. Then the chapter proceeds with the Ukrainian KGB meddling in the US politics, education and church affairs. The final part of this chapter deals with the KGB operations, targeting the US consulate in Kyiv in 1974–1980.
