ABSTRACT

Empathy is the ability to step outside our own experience, imagine what another might be going through, and then do something to ease their pain, upset, or loss. It is a crucial building block for building and maintaining relationships with others. This lesson teaches children how to experience empathy, as well as what they can ‘say and do’ to show they have empathy. Helping children to understand the place of empathy, and its value in mutually respectful relationships, will serve them well throughout their lives.
