ABSTRACT

In this second chapter devoted to the case of “Jodie,” the author details embodied therapy that was used in working with the patient’s college assault and rape. The safety of the therapeutic relationship increased her ability to contrast her traumatic associations of touch with the experiences of empathic touch. The embodied therapy reduced both her anxiety around touch and her embodied trauma flashbacks that were often activated by touch. This helped the patient develop a new relationship to her body.
