ABSTRACT

After an introduction, this commentary first outlines the content of each Scene and Choros and then discusses, with reference to our successful 2021 research production in Newcastle Australia, some of the strategies that can be adopted to make this play into a gripping contemporary experience in an end-on theatre. Wider issues, such as how in general to approach acting, character and the choros in Greek tragedy and comedy, are treated in my book Staging Greek Drama: A Practical Guide for Directors, Actors and Drama Students. 1
