ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how Borromini's radical new architecture suggests an end to the cosmos. It describes parallels between Borromini's conception of mathematics and infinity that were shared with anti-Aristotelian thinkers like Galileo and Pascal. It compares Borromini's architectural work with Classical architecture, and tries to give an account of the theological motivations for what were seen as his excesses.
