ABSTRACT

A deep understanding of the principle, Embrace Scientific Thinking, is essential if you plan to achieve the full benefits of the Shingo Model within your organization. This principle reflects the basic thinking that we must continuously develop our organization and our people to effectively and efficiently improve for the long term. Problem solving and improvement must move beyond the people at the top. All team members are willing and able to contribute. Systems and tools move the aim from a passive request for involvement to an active request.

Remember that people run the system, and the system runs the business. However, without equal and appropriate attention to both the social and the technical side of improvement, success will be limited.

The more deeply we understand the Shingo Model, its Guiding Principles, and the Three Insights of Organizational Excellence, the more we drive ideal behavior. And the more we drive ideal behavior, the closer we are to achieving long-term, sustainable success.62
