ABSTRACT

Writing has always been multimodal, and each time we step outside of our learning institutions, we’re reminded of this. The most influential writers in every single field are those who are able to translate written words into multimodal compositions that consumers will appreciate and learn from. Why have we failed to center multimodality inside our writing workshops, then? Our history is with us here, and the introduction offers readers the opportunity to learn more about the relationships between print, privilege, equity, and influence while inspiring them to make the most of the opportunities they have—right now—to make a clear assessment of their current curricula and practices and level up, in service to the writers, the field, and the communities that they love.
