ABSTRACT

This chapter will offer explicit, grade-level band specific guidance and planning tools that will help teachers construct units and lessons relative to: choosing an audience, establishing a specific posture or stance, selecting and combining the best modes of expression for any message and audience, constructing forms, and preparing to share compositions in targeted outlets. Readers will also learn how to help young writers unmake and analyze multimodal mentor texts, craft proposals for their own multimodal compositions, and build meaningful prototypes (which replace traditional rough drafts that are composed with written words).
