ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the perspectives of sport and leisure (SL) industry practitioners on the importance of entrepreneurial culture and leadership, and garners insights into how they support and develop entrepreneurial culture for their organisations. In doing so, the chapter highlights and discusses a selection of approaches for developing and supporting an entrepreneurial culture within the SL sectors. The chapter identifies a selection of key strategic themes including (i) moves towards greater diversification, (ii) the need to enhance sustainability, and (iii) extendibility through empowering individuals to address innovation challenges. To illustrate the relationship between working on such innovation challenges and how culture change can be realised, a case study of addressing climate change in library services is discussed. The chapter concludes with some reflections and recommendations on how people can be recruited and motivated to address the innovation challenges of diversification, sustainability, and extendibility.
