ABSTRACT

This third and final chapter on transformational theory – vision advocacy – is led by Peter Senge, whose book The Fifth Discipline is one of the most important management books of the previous 75 years. It is about managing learning organisations where staff continually expand their capacity to create the results they desire and where new patterns of thinking are nurtured. The chapter also discusses visible and invisible leadership, which is about understanding problems, not finding solutions per se, but with the ability to transform the lives of colleagues without being noticed or applauded.
