ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the work of McGregor, Maslow and Hertzberg in terms of motivator-hygiene theories of job satisfaction, and the Seven Colour Motivation model, which the chapter links to de Bono’s six coloured thinking hats. The chapter also discusses authentic leadership as a model that advocates building a leader’s legitimacy through honest genuine relationships with followers; and transactional leadership as a style of leadership in which leaders promote compliance and motivation among followers using a system of reward and punishment.
