ABSTRACT

This chapter defines who is usually considered part of the Millennial generation, and what has been said about this group of individuals in existing writings. Often labeled as entitled “snowflakes” by older adults prior to the 2010s, new studies have been emerging since then focusing instead on the unprecedented challenges Millennials are facing in their economic, political and social lives. This chapter explores the key societal changes over the past few decades that define the Millennial social location, and how these changes are affecting different Millennial social groups’ relationship with religion and spirituality.
