ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 is a prologue which charts the course of the book. The overarching theme of the book is inequality. This takes several forms which are the subject of the subsequent chapters. They are: inequality in the distribution of luck; inequality of access to representative cricket; inequality in tournament outcomes, which raises questions of competitive balance; inequality between men’s and women’s games in the quality of adjudication; gender inequality in remuneration; and, lastly, inequality of on-field performance between men and women.
