ABSTRACT

Whenever I am out for the evening, I am constantly aware of who is around me and what their mood is at the time. I have been sucker-punched a time or two, I mean jacked in the back of the head sucker-punched. It's usually a disgruntled boyfriend or some guy who just gets mean when he drinks. In all fairness, in at least one case I probably deserved it. The business world is even more vicious in many ways and your competitors will pull every underhanded move in the book, especially if you have gotten the best of them previously. Your client will also engage in some questionable tactics based on your history or their approach to contracting and negotiations. You need to have your head on a swivel at all times, while not distracting you from your stated goals. You also need to stay close to your customers and decision-makers to let you know when the competition has started taking swings, or to be aware when you have a person within that organization that has “bad intentions.”
