ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence has enabled the emergence of a new generation of companies. Data are at the core of their operating models. The chapter discusses the different data sources and shows examples for alternative data sources such as drones or satellites but also the uses of crowdsourced data.
The chapter also looks at the role of artificial intelligence in different settings. Artificial intelligence is already implemented in public settings, the labor market, healthcare, education, agriculture and used to improve the lives of persons with disabilities. Readers are introduced to business models and concepts how they can be used to create impact and will understand the limits of the systems.
