ABSTRACT

This final chapter summarizes some of the key cross-cutting themes that have emerged throughout the book, what they imply for governing climate change, and how we can make sense of them. We reflect on insights regarding the shifting terrain of governance, the combinations of new actors and old politics that shape responses to climate change, and the rise of market and voluntary governance before exploring consequences and contestations in climate governance. We finish with some final thoughts on theoretical implications of the account we have developed throughout the book.
