ABSTRACT

The impact on the up-stream and down-stream members of the supply chain should be forgotten, including of course the all-important end customers. The focus of the partners is around working collaboratively now and in the future so that on exit both parties are happy that they can work together again to maximize future opportunities. Parties embarking on high-value, complex IT outsourcing projects should focus their minds on what they want to happen should their commercial relationship come to an end and should resist the temptation to be swept up in the deal which is being done. The potential exit implications of the proposed enterprise have been outlined and discussed as part of selecting a partner, drafting a business case, and exploring collaborative management arrangements. The review should consider what could have been done to avoid premature exit, the adequacy of the exit plan, and the management of the implementation project.
