ABSTRACT

The ERMP contains all the objectives, policies, procedures, and plans that make up the TOM in action and is used as the ‘dashboard' that provides the ‘instruments' and ‘controls' to manage the relationship. The arrangements by which collaborating organizations manage their joint enterprise will involve both individual and joint structures. Because of the difficulties associated with coordinating cross-boundary operations, governance processes must be very clearly specified and will be dependent upon high-level agreements. The RMs will meet regularly to review work schedules and progress to ensure that targets are being met. Key to this is appropriate operational and relationship performance measurement that is objective and visible to all. The commercial managers need to be included in the RM meetings, so that they will contribute to developments and be able to maintain the currency of the contract/agreement/SLA. A global food manufacturer outsourced some seasonal product lines to a small, world-class, niche producer.
