ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses largely on the case of Propaganda 2, the infamous P2 secret lodge and its venerable master Licio Gelli. Often considered the original sin of the current representations of Italian masonic malfeasances, the P2 case represents a prime example of a masonic network acting as guarantor of interactions (legal and illegal). Together with the P2, other cases, mostly from Sicily, show the capacity of deviant masons or unregulated/covert/secret lodges to act in this role with mafias and other powerful actors.
