ABSTRACT

This chapter features the merging character of Donald Trump’s paternal socialization of becoming either a “winner” or a “loser” with Donald’s early business and political tutelage from Roy Cohn, his legal counsel from 1973 to 1985. Lawsuits especially in litigious and celeb-oriented societies like the United States garner much attention. Not unlike professional sports, litigation involving big business, entertainment, politics, or individual grievances has long been considered one of America’s favorite pastimes. If the lawsuits come charging Trump with criminal negligence typically defined as gross or reckless disregard for human life, resulting in serious injury or death, Trump and his lawyers will be well prepared for his defense. Roy Cohn was a lawyer, a rabid anti-communist, a closeted homosexual, a homophobe, a Jewish anti-Semite, a misogynist, a legal warrior on behalf of the House Un-American Activities Committee, and a registered Democrat who almost exclusively supported Republicans.
