ABSTRACT

We start with a discussion of COVID-19 and the many impacts it has had on us as individuals and on society at large. The pandemic has led to an increase in economic uncertainty, emotional and physical trauma, racial tensions, and the dissemination of misinformation and conspiracy theories. The cumulative stress of the pandemic has led to higher rates of depression, suicide, and domestic violence. We have also seen a marked rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans. Issues of mask and vaccine compliance and the origins of the virus are also discussed. We also address the effects on healthcare and other essential workers and the economic effect we have all faced.
