ABSTRACT

This chapter puts forth four proposals that will be integral to successful system renewal. Having described and discussed the tightly and loosely coupled forces in the Malaysian education system that shaped teachers’ classroom practices in the preceding chapters, we discuss how these proposals can provide the necessary foundation to reorganize the different forces in the system to transition towards a more well-aligned yet adaptive system. These foundations include a bridge between systems through a more integrated leadership model, a focus on integrity over fidelity in complex systems, a redesign of information flow, and a return to professional competency. These four proposals will be discussed in terms of what they are, how they work, why they are important, how they occur in the system, and finally, what indicators of success would look like. This chapter and this book will conclude with a discussion of how these proposals should be considered in the context of a complex system.
