A successful interview isn’t a case of sheer good luck – far from it. Chapter 1 starts with the basics, introducing the five key steps of every interview – GRAB5 – which will be detailed in the chapters that follow. The five steps of GRAB5 are: Get the Interview; Research and Preparation; Ask Questions; Be Attentive – Listen; 5Ws and H – Check. This chapter also examines the interview, its various styles, locations and interviewees. Journalist and professor Ralph Begleiter (CNN) and journalist Travis Parry (Al Jazeera Media Service) are among the experts providing practical advice and top tips in this chapter.
