ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 begins by examining the academic origins of “abolish the police”, providing the reader with details of how experts have defined the concept. After this recap, a descriptive qualitative data analysis pertaining to tweets using this concept as a hashtag was performed. As a result, six frameworks were discovered to exist within the online discourse taking place on Twitter during the summer of 2020. These frames are outlined and explored in detail for the reader, as well as discussing comparisons and contrasts between the academic versus public conceptualizations.
