ABSTRACT

A workflow consists of the various items people need to do including tracking and analyzing relevant information, prioritizing tasks, then identifying next steps. Management tasks include banking, deciding which new offerings to focus on, research, marketing and engaging with customers, and automating whatever people can. Something that can be helpful is to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) so people don't have to learn everything all over again each time people do it. Data to collect and analyze may include buying patterns and amounts of final sales, who the author's buyers are, web traffic, seasonal information, and effectiveness of marketing. The idea was adapted to startup practices, originating in part from the Japanese manufacturing sector inspired by Kaizen, a term that translates loosely into “good change.” The attitude of kaizen can help build morale, expand customer awareness, test new features, analyze results, and build improvements into people's startup gradually.
