ABSTRACT

The chapter presents three case studies where the techniques and practices discussed in previous chapters are applied in real case scenarios, where corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS) provided the methodological framework of investigation. Each case study is structured in five sections, providing first the background information and context - its aim and design - necessary to fully grasp the nature of the data under scrutiny and the theoretical and practical decisions subsequently made. Next are details concerning the corpus design, the data processing, and finally the corpus analysis. These sections document how each step occurred during the research phases to further clarify their relation to the broad view of corpus approaches the volume proposes. Scripts that replicate the operations conducted during the data collection and processing stages are included for each case study, documenting how theory and practice are blended and adapted in real case scenarios.
