ABSTRACT
This chapter sets the stage for understanding the gender revolution and its political and personal levels. It provides a brief overview of the 2016 election, followed by local, on-the-ground reactions to the election through our focus group participants. We then examine the history of activism around sexual assault to situate the #MeToo movement within its larger context.
