ABSTRACT
In Chapter 8, the final chapter concluding this book, the authors consider possible outcomes and future scenarios that all these trends may lead to, or at least point at. In this chapter, the authors begin to describe the consequences of precarious professional work (Kalleberg 2009), particularly during a moment marked by the last decade that has seen and augured in much of the change and disruption that they observe throughout the book – economic and financial realignment, shifts to our public perceptions and guiding our political views, forces of globalization and technological change, and major societal and cultural developments that have altered the way younger generations view work and their future careers. As part of summing up, the authors review scenarios developed by several leading scholars and build on their own model for future casting.
