ABSTRACT
Moving onto Chapter 3, the authors hold their focus on macro-level matters and identify the ways in which technological change and systems of globalization have shaped and influenced professional work, particularly in spaces and positions regarded as elite professions. Over the course of this chapter, the authors assess the impact that has resulted from advances in telecommunications, the expansion of computational power and the importance placed on analytics and “big data,” and further development in robotics and simulation. Shifting gears in their examination of globalization, the authors discuss the trends guiding: professional relocation, diffusion of workplace and educational culture, and reliance on outsourcing.
